Madrid · El Rastro · Hosting since 2024
A bright, silent interior flat a short walk from La Latina, Lavapiés and Plaza Mayor. With a real desk inside the room, and a door you can let yourself through at any hour.
The walkthrough
No surprises on arrival. This is exactly what you will find, in the order you would see it if you walked through the door right now.
One — Arriving
A keypad by the door and you are in. No keys to collect, no times to arrange with anyone: landing from the airport at eleven at night is exactly as easy as arriving at three in the afternoon.
Two — The room
We say it plainly because we would rather you knew before booking: the room is small. In exchange it is well sorted — chest of drawers, reading lamp, a rail for hanging clothes, and a door that locks. And it is an interior flat, so Madrid’s noise stays outside.
Three — The bed
It is a trundle bed: underneath there is a second one that pulls all the way out. Leave it as a single, pull the lower one out and stagger them, or push them together and sleep two. This is what makes two people work in a room this size.
Four — The desk
And it is inside the room itself, not out in the living room: bamboo desk with a drawer, ergonomic mesh chair, LED bar lamp and an air purifier. With a ceiling fan and air conditioning above it. If you are in Madrid to work for a few days, you can actually work here.
Five — The bathroom
Yes, it is shared with the flat. But it was renovated from scratch: brass bowl basin on the counter, navy vanity, backlit mirror, black taps, rain shower and encaustic floor tiles. It is not the sad bathroom you picture when you read «shared bathroom».
Six — The kitchen
It has character, which is rare in a rental. Checkerboard floor, sage green walls, wooden worktop and a red mesh cabinet you can see from the hallway. Oven, induction hob, dishwasher and extractor. With Mercado de la Cebada nearby, eating in is part of the plan.
Seven — Breakfast
Nespresso machine with capsules, toaster, air fryer and a wine rack above. It is all together in the same unit, so you are not opening someone else’s drawers looking for things.
Eight — The living room
A sofa, light from a window onto the street, and a lamp to read by. This is where the 50 inch TV with Netflix and Prime Video lives. After a day of walking across Madrid, this tends to be the best part of it.

The area
This is the Madrid people mean when they say they want to see the real one. Almost everything you will want to visit is within walking distance, and what is not is one metro stop away.
It is one of the few parts of the historic centre that is still a proper neighbourhood: old-school markets, bars packed at two in the afternoon, and sloping streets that fill with people on Sunday mornings.
See available datesSpain’s most famous open-air flea market sets up on your street every Sunday. Best seen early, before it fills up.
Cava Baja and the streets around it hold one of Madrid’s highest concentrations of tapas bars. A short walk from the flat.
A traditional neighbourhood market for shopping, with stalls where you can eat on the spot.
Madrid’s tourist heart, with no need to take any transport.
Guernica and 20th-century art, a walk through Lavapiés away. The Prado and the Thyssen are a little further, also walkable.

Pet in the home
He is the cat of the house and he has been here longer than any guest. He does his own thing: if he takes to you he will sit with you, and if he does not you will barely know he is around.
If you are allergic to cats, this place will not work for you. We would rather tell you now, before you book, than when you are already at the door with your suitcase.
